Arturo Arcos is a Mexican Canadian artist who comes from an artistic family of craftsmen, painters and musicians and now lives in Squamish, BC, Canada.  He was born in Mexico City in 1978 and has been drawn to history and anthropology since childhood.  As a young artist he drew special inspiration from the ancient Mexican cultures of the Aztec, Mayan, and Teotihuacan.  Fascinated by their conceptualizations of reality, and by their many accomplished wonders in architecture, mathematics, astronomy, and art, his early pieces depict a combination of rituals, legends, darkness, spiritual search, spiritual awakening, transcendence and ancestry.

Arturo is largely a self taught painter, though he later studied fine art at UAEM, The Autonomous University of the State of Morelos, in Mexico.  His most recent pieces are inspired by his love of learning and explore themes found in the nature of the mind, human energy fields, metaphysics, quantum physics, astronomy and astrology.

Arturo works with oil, acrylic, graphite and mixed media, and brings sculptural elements to many of his pieces.  He has had numerous exhibitions in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
