Arturo Arcos is a Mexican -Canadian artist who comes from an artistic family of craftsmen, painters and musicians. Originally from Mexico he lives in Squamish, BC, Canada.  He was born in Mexico City and has been drawn to history and anthropology since childhood.  Arturo is largely a self taught painter, though he later studied fine art at UAEM, The Autonomous University of the State of Morelos, in Mexico.

As a young artist he drew special inspiration from the ancient Mexican cultures of the Aztec, Mayan, and Teotihuacan.  Fascinated by their art and their many advancements in different sciences, in his early pieces he depicted his interpretation of myths and symbols that explain the concept of duality. The antagonist nature in every aspect of life.

His most recent pieces are inspired by his love of learning and explore the depts of human nature, from a psychological and metaphysical approach.

Arturo works with oil, acrylic, graphite and mixed media, and brings sculptural elements to many of his pieces.  He has numerous exhibitions in Mexico, the U.S. and Canada.
